Born on November 19, 1917, Indira Gandhi is till date the only woman Prime Minister of India. She was elected as the PM of India in January 1966 and served till March 1977.

It was during her interview at Shantiniketan that Rabindra Nath Tagore named her Priyadarshini. Since then she has been known as Indira Priyadarshini Nehru or Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi.
